Situated in the centre of the island, Nicosia is in close proximity to all areas of the island, Nicosia is the capital of both North and South Cyprus. Its history goes back to Ancient Egyptian times, and it has been imprinted with the cultures of the Byzantines, Lusignians, Venetians, Ottomans and the British, all reflected in the diverse architecture. It is the administrative centre of the island, and also has a thriving entertainment scene, with a wide selection of restaurants of many nationalities. The city is divided roughly in the middle horizontally between the Turkish and Greek parts. There are three crossing points where you will be asked to show a passport." |
